New budget - Free booze at casinos, 9am first call, drinking in parks (if cities want) 6/49 & proline tickets bought on your phone. Deficit reduced by $1 billion, education and healthcare spending to slow below low inflation
Hi guys, My brother and I will be visiting Vegas in about a month. He is turning 21 at the end of this month and our parents are sending us to Vegas. I’m 25 but we didn’t do a trip for me so I get to just tag along. Lol This will be my first time to Vegas and his second time but he was pretty young the first go. I’m just curious to hear about all the tips and tricks. So any info is much appreciated. We’ll be staying at the SLS Las Vegas. I’m interested in trying to find freebies, how much to tip for free drinks at casinos, & what the best way to travel around. I’m also wanting to go kayaking because I’ve heard it’s pretty cool to do if we have the chance. So if you know of any good companies to rent yaks from? I’ve been doing a little research on the recreation marijuana rules and interested to see if they’re have been lounges opening up or if it’s still basically impossible for visitors to part take. Thank you in advance for any tips, tricks, or ideas. We really want to make the most of our week there and I just don’t want to wait and be overwhelmed once we arrive.
Went to the brand new casino tonight, was really impressive but goddamn took me a half hour to get a drink cause it was crowded so now that I'm at home I'm drinking Jack Tennessee Honey cause I only got 1 free drink at the casino.
Spent like 2 hours at the slots and only am down 20 bucks so that's pretty nice. Just wish there were less people
Anyone been to MGM National recently (and played some Blackjack)?
I went many months ago shortly after it opened, and overall I wasn't impressed. That being said, I went on a weekend and the bj tables were $25 minimum until 8 and then went to $50. And had 6:5 payouts. And no free drinks. Basically a giant middle finger to actual players. Anyway, I heard recently the bj minimums have dropped (especially on weeknights) and the payout has gotten better. I don't play often, but if this was true I'd be tempted to skip the drive to WV next time. Edit: I'm aware free drinks at casinos are illegal in Maryland (not that I normally drink anyway). But you would expect the casino to bend you over LESS in other ways since they are now making money on beverages (where most casinos do not).
Can we get something straight? There is no free booze; open bars are not free; free cocktails and drink specials are not free, and, that friend who bought the last round didn't give you anything FREE.
Alcohol for the alcoholic is poison. A toxin. Even if you aren't paying a purchase price, you will pay, dearly. If your friend offered you a cup of hemlock would you think you were getting a free drink? But realistically your buddy who just bought this round is (a. either paying you back or (b. expecting that you will buy him some poison, too. The open bar was paid for by your participation in an event and approximately priced-in to your cost of admission for the event, the same for the first class ticket--and as I said you will pay, dearly for imbibing the "free cocktails" if like my you are an alcoholic. I suppose I don't even have to explain the economics of the free drinks at casinos, do I? In the immortal words of my friend, Chris (aka the Dude): All roads are toll roads.
The psychology behind competitive videogames is very similar to the techniques casinos use to draw you in, and keep you at the table. Free drinks, they suspend the passage of time with no windows or clocks, hide the entrance,
[Meetup] Trivia at the Palace Casino Resort's Contact Lounge, Wed. Oct. 9, 7-9pm. Free food, free drinks, free love. Let's get first place for the third time in a row!
I'm tired right now but posting this because some guy said he wanted to meet people. There's enough details in the title at the moment. I am not doing an RSVP thing right now but I might put it in later. FOLLOW HERE: http://redditgifts.com/meetups/biloxi/ and you will get an alert e-mail.
[Meetup] Trivia at the PALACE CASINO RESORT's smoke-free CONTACT LOUNGE, Oct 2 7pm-9pm with FREE FOOD (fries, wings) and FREE DRINKS (we pay!), and also FREE FOOD (we have gift cards so we can cover that too).
Our attendance has increased every week! The first week had 3, the second had 4, and the third went to 7! We have finished in first, third, and first place again, giving us approx $61 in credit left to burn. (We still suggest tipping your waitress, though.) How to get there: Go to the Palace Casino. Park. Go inside. Ask any employee how to get to CONTACT. You will be fine. It's really easy to find, if you come up the escalators just turn around and stay in the middle "lane" and you will eventually end up at CONTACT. They will ask to see ID and I don't know if you can bring kids. Not like they'll know any of the trivia answers anyway. They provide, at the start, free wings of varying heat and also steak fries. There's also a menu (PDF), we got the waffle fry nachos for the table and it was just weird.
Free chicken wings and fries. Sometimes they replenish. Apparently people who weren't playing were taking free food and were admonished, and they had to cook more.
We have some money left on a gift card so we can cover your drink. We tip in cash however so please bring a buck or two if all you're getting is a drink.
If you're a repeat player we will also possibly be able to cover your food, but we didn't even place last week so we need another win for more free gift cards!
We're dying for sports geeks. They ask questions like who's the winningest team, or how long the AFC existed before the first superbowl, or what AFC team is now what other NFL team (like the Houston Oilers), it's stuff we just don't know offhand. HOW TO GET THERE:
From the west, get off on I-110 and get on Hwy 90 East. Turn left when you get to the Golden Nugget. Bam! Palace.
From the east, head on Hwy 90 West, turn right when you get to the golden nugget. Bam! Palace
How to get to Contact:
Go inside. Ask any employee. If you can't do this, get to the escalator, make a U turn to the left, and continue down the 'aisle'. It will eventually turn right and you'll stick with it. Stay in this aisle to the end. Bam! You're at Contact.
SO EASY! Are you under 21? Be with someone who isn't. Maybe call first. Allegedly it's a family friendly establishment. I don't believe it. We haven't tested this yet. HINTS: C / Stars and Bars
[Meetup] Trivia at the Palace Casino Resort's Contact Lounge! 7pm Weds Oct 23. Free chicken wings & fries, we'll cover your drink. Look for the nerds, it's so easy to find them.
We only one third prize last week and a record number of people ordered food (not that it's a bad thing, it was a special occasion), but this means we have about $13 left in gift cards. Drinks are $2.50 so this means after 5 people order something, the rest will have to be covered in cash... unless we get in the top three again. And I hope we do. (It's actually how we didn't go over last time!) There's no RSVP at the moment but you should totally sign up for notifications here: http://redditgifts.com/meetups/biloxi/, because sometimes we have other meetups. To get there, just go to the Palace Casino Resort and ask any employee how to get to Contact. They're all friendly so you shouldn't have an issue. There's both garage and ground level parking (if you get in the garage, park on the 3rd floor, so you don't have to take stairs up or down to cross to the casino). See you there!
